New Bear, Pogo

I've been a bit busy with things other than my blog.

I feel like such a bad mommy.

But I have been quite busy making bears. I've met

a wonderful woman in northern Colorado, that has kept

me busy making bears for her and her daughter. I hope

one day to meet them in person. But till then I will continue

having fun making bears and meeting new bear lovers.

Pogo is a bear that turned out so sweet and I will probably be

using the pattern again.

Pogo is made from imported synthetic long pile from Sassy. OOOoooh! I love this

fabric and this bear so much, sooo soft and plush!!!

Two New Bears

I've been working on patterns and a bit of this and that.

And as a result I have two new bears. Yay!! It sort of feels like I haven't done anything in a while

but then it also feels like I have been so very busy. Ughhhh!! I have been busy with trying to get a new

smaller bear pattern. I was not happy with it so took the head off and put it on another body...Much better.

Will be working on the body that didn't work, on another day. This little fellow is the one that gave me a little bit of grief, but I'm happy with how he turned out. He is made of the felted

woven wool. His name is Patch, since he is made from varying pieces of the wool.

Patch will soon be available in my Etsy Shop.

NEXT. . . .

This is a very sweet bear that I made from an older pattern of mine.

I forget how much I love the bears made from these patterns. And

I am so happy when I see the result from these older patterns. Okay

so here is my other new bear, as yet un-named, and also to be listed soon in my

Etsy Shop.

There's Something About. . .

working with the felted woven fabric that I just love. It makes

such a sweet innocent bear. And the fact that all the seams show

and you have to be very careful, so the quality of the work

really shows through. Just my thoughts, but now here are

a couple pictures of the latest bear made from the woven fabric.

This fabric is felted woven cashmere and is soooo wonderful.

say, just for her nose and mouth. I had to give it four tries before I was happy with it.

A Special Post,

for me that is. This is my 100th post. I really never thought

I would get this far with my blog. Which started out as a

handmade cloth doll blog. Shortly after that, though, I discovered

bear making. And as they say, the rest is history!! Yay!

I love the bears!!!

Now, I do want to do a blog give-away, and I will. But I have

some things I need to finish up with before I can get into that.

So my dear blog friends please check back. I plan on a give- away

of one of my bears. Not sure about fabric or any of the details

but I will be doing this.

Toffy

Toffy is about 5.25" tall and is made from a new fabric I recently got in. It's a wonderful

New Fabric, New Bear. . .

new computer?

I was able to order some wonderful new fabric from Intercal,

a couple medium density alpacas and one dense mohair.

This fabric is so wonderful. I've also ordered some felted woven

wool. I like to use this fabric on the foot pads of my bears. I like

how it accepts the shading that I use. Very nice. And then I love

the Sassy poly plush doeskin fabric. This is actually one of the

very first fabrics I ever worked with to make a bear. And it still

give a wonderful scruffy result, which I love!!!!

The fabrics on the bottom of the pic are the alpaca and mohair.

Upper to the right are the felted woven wool and to the left of that

is the Sassy doeskin. :D Very excited to get working with all this lovely

fabric. But first I am finishing up a couple of commissioned bears for a

friend. (I'll post pictures of the bears when I finished with them)

She wants the two bears as a gift for her son and his wife.

They are such a great couple, some of my favorite people!!

Now, the computer thing is

a whole other animal. My son build his "dream" computer. Well,

that is good for me because I was handed the laptop he had been using.

A very nice one too, and it was only a little over a year old. Much better

that what I was using. Well within 48 hours of my getting started with my

new computer it was fried by my plugging in an appliance across the room.

There was a pop and then it went black. Oh, boy!!!! I really can't believe

how things go for me. I've been handed a lot of lemons in life over the last year

and I've been making a lot of lemonade.

Guess I'll just keep squeezing till I run my supply of lemons out!!! :)

It's really all I can do.

So here I am back on my old laptop,

guess I'll name him "Old Faithful"

Back to Bear Making

After so many difficult situations I've been dealing with recently I think

I'm going to have some real bear making time coming up now.

Yay!!! And this little bear is actually the second in what I hope will

be a number of bears to come. The first bear was a commissioned

bear for a friend and I didn't get a chance to photograph him.

Uhgggg! I'm such a dummy sometimes!!

The Trade

Recently I had the privilege of doing a bear trade with an amazing artist,

Michelle, over at

Handcrafted Teddy Bears by Michelle

It didn't take long to receive the bear from Michelle. I was and

still am thrilled to have one of her bears. He is sooo adorable!!

On the other hand, the bear from me, unfortunately got caught

up in the drama that is, at times, my life, even though I try to

keep things on the simple side. ;)

Thank you so very much Michelle for all you patience and

understanding. You are not only an amazing artist

but a wonderful friend!!! :)

This took me long enough!!

But I have finally finished a new bear!!

My first bear since my shoulder surgery, yes, it's true,

I have been able to have the surgery I've needed for

the last 9 months!! :D YaY!!!

Now on with the bear,

this is Andy, he is just so cute!!

I love him!!!

This little darling bear is about 6 inches (15.25 cm) tall and is made out of viscose (rayon fabric).
He has German glass eyes, a mildly wobble head, ultra suede foot pads. I've weighted his tummy. His legs and arms are string and disk jointed and he has been subtly shaded. Around his neck Andy is wearing a crinkled rayon ribbon bow.

a bit longer than I had originally thought it would but, I'm quite

pleased with how he's turned out.

I've Been Derailed

Hey All,

I see I've gotta a few new followers, Yay & welcome!! I know I've been

a bit behind on updating my blog. I'm really sorry about that,

I was quite sick for almost two weeks. And now I'm in the process

of getting all caught up. (This may take a while)

I also wanted to mention that the Blooming Bear Show

preview starts at midnight tonight east coast time. Which

here in Colorado, USA will be at 10:00pm. I usually turn

my laptop off at about 8:30-9:00pm, but tonight I am going

Waffle, my new bear. . .

This is Waffle, he is about 5.5 inches (14cm)

and is made from a very soft alpaca. He has

German glass eyes and has a sweet wobble head.

I've weighted his tummy and his arms and legs are

string and disk jointed.

Waffle will come with the crocheted ric-rac which is

made from a very soft hemp yarn. I've attached

tiny rusty bells and tiny brass beads.

on his head. . . See!?! :D

my latest little bear. He turned out so sweet. When you

start making a bear you know what you are going to do.

What fabric you will use, you have your pattern, you cut

all the pieces out and then put needle to fabric...

And as we all know the bear will become his own

little being. This bear has been such a fun and wonderful

surprise, I just love how Billie turned out. He is such

a sweet, co-operative, adorable bear.

(I say co-operative because his photo shoot was a breeze... I love that! <3)

WIP Bear

I've been working on this little bear for quite some time now. And I hope

to have him done in a couple of days or so. I ordered some hardboard

disks from Sassy, she said they shipped on December 29th, but I still

haven't received them yet. I think they have been sucked into the black hole

of the postal system. :D Stephanie is very sweet though, she said

she would send me more if I don't get them soon. I guess I'll see if

they show up or not. But I need the disks to attach this little fellas

arms. Right now his arms are just pinned to him...

He's made from imported cotton fur and

is about 5.5 inches (14 cm) tall.

AAaaah. . . .To Make A Bear!! :D

It has been about 2 and a half months since I've been able to really sit

and work on bears. The pain, discomfort and to a certain level some depression

has really taken it's tole on me, but, I have learned so much about myself, that in a

weird way I sort of appreciate it all. (Go figure "/)

Anyway, this post is not about my woes, but about my sweet new bear

who I am so, so happy with. This little darlings name is

GiGi

and I hope you like her. :D

I have enjoyed getting back to making bears so much, I have so many

ideas. It feels so good, and to see such a sweet face emerge,

Aaaaah yes things are good today!!!

Oh My Blogging Goodness!!!

It has just been way too long since I posted anything. You see my life has been anything

but typical lately. Going through many ups and downs over the last few months.

But I was able to work on this sweet bear this past month and finally finished her

this week. I was able to get some pictures of "Polly" today so here she is.

Polly is made from a wonderful mohair, is about 5.5 inches

tall and has a slightly wobbly head. I hope to have her listed

on Etsy sometime tomorrow.

(Update: Just got back from the Physical Therapist and he said
that this is going to take a long time. Boo Hoo! But I really like my PT

because it has taken so long to get any help for my injuries.
I'm just going to stay positive and continue to work hard.)

~~The surgery is on~~...

I can't really believe it, it's been three and a half months

since the car crash and there have been times when

I truly felt that I would never get to this point. I am

so happy to be starting my road to recovery. I'm going crazy
not making bears, but it has become more and more difficult...

I have a little fellow now, over on my work table who is

waiting so patiently. I hope to get some work done on him

today and possibly finish him up tomorrow. Because after that,

it really will be a while till I can make another. Boo Hoo! :(

I hope to get a couple pictures of my WIP to show you, he's

a gusset style, and he's looking pretty cute at this point.

has been rather difficult for me lately due to the pain in my shoulder and arm.

I'm scheduled for surgery next Tuesday the 2nd, but I'm not very hopeful that

this will happen. :(

Mmmmmm, I'm quite sad and depressed, but I don't want to dwell on the negative.

I would like to share with you all my newest bear. They are fewer and further

between these days which is not by choice. (The pain makes working hard)

Anyway if you haven't seen Cherish yet, her she is....

A Little Bear in the Woods. . .

I am "mostly" done with my most recent little bear, I've

named her, Pasha, which is Russian for small, she

is about 4.75 inches or 12 cm.

Pasha just needs some decoration, dressing up a bit. Not sure what I will do.

But I did want to share some pictures of her before

I actually post her for adoption. She is sooo cute I just love how she turned out.

Sittin' by the creek. . .

The weather has been so wonderful I've been going out to sit by the creek

and do some crocheting. Occasionally I get the itch to crochet, which

is what has happened lately. I wanted a gift for a friend so what better

thing than to crochet a little turtle. I mentioned this in my last

post, and, woo hoo! I actually finished it by my self imposed deadline!

In Panda Mode :D

Well I guess I'm in a panda mode. I have made several in a row.

I love these little guys. I really like this new panda because I tried

out hand dying for the first time. The blue is a Rit dye which I think turned

out well. Yay!

This little 14 cm bear is name Cady.

Ooo, she is so cute, I wanna pinch her little cheeks.

I'm working on a amigurumi turtle for a friend.
Taking a little break from fur for the day.
I spent some time earlier this year re-teaching myself
crocheting. I had seen so many adorable bears,
and kitties, and all kinds of cute critters that I wanted
to try my hand at it. So as a thank you gift for
a friend I'm making a turtle. Will post a picture when I
am finished.

Also, about my doctors appointment last week.
It didn't go quite as I had hoped. This whole process
is taking so long. And my shoulder is not getting any
better. What needs to happen next is to get an
MRI. Yikes! Not words that someone who is claustrophobic
wants to hear. :/
But at this point I'm willing to try to go through with it, I really just want
to be on the mend. But right now I don't know if anyplace local
will give me the MRI since I am broke and have no insurance.
Boy, this whole system is screwed up, I'm not at fault for the accident,
just an innocent passenger and it's taken me over 2 months to even see
a doctor. I should find out today if I can get an MRI locally or if I
will have to drive 4 hours to get one.
Oh well, I will keep plodding forward for now. . . .

New Bear Finished

I'm happy to introduce you to my new tiny little friend,

Gumdrop.

been having trouble with my shoulder from the car crash

I was in. I have been having trouble finding a doctor that
will see me. . . . Well, I finally found someone

who will work with me, but their office is a

hour away. Not happy with that, but very happy that I will

be seen, and my appointment is today. So, yay!!!

maybe I will start getting better now, I can't wait to not

be in pain everyday. I'll update on the outcome of the appointment.

Another Little Panda :D

This is little Mandi Panda. She is such a darling little girl

at about 5.75 inches. She is made from German cotton fur.

And is string, disk and cotter pin jointed. I've weighted

her tummy for a wonderful feel when you hold her.

Here's Pearl

Please don't hate me, I know as a blogger I leave much to be desired

lately. But, ugh, my life has been so stressful lately it makes doing

anything such a huge extra effort, which at the end of the day

my energy level is so sapped that I can't do anything.

Dealing with moving is stressful, they say one of the most

stressful things in life, now also dealing with my shoulder

injury from the car crash. Which I still haven't been able to

see a doc for. No one will see me since I have no insurance, and

I have no spare cash. So it's going on 5 weeks now and I'm still in

pain daily, I can't, or I should say it's painful to take a shower,

get dressed, do dishes, I could go on but.....I'll just say that any activity

that requires your elbow moving away from your waist area, this is

what produces the discomfort and pain. My elbow has to stay attached

to my side. Anyway, sorry to bore you with this I'm just a bit

frustrated and caught up in finding someone who will treat me or

at the very least take a quick peak a this and give me an idea

of what's going on. Ughh!

Anyway, I have been able to finish a bear and what a cutie

she is, I've named her Pearl. She's a big headed panda made

from the cotton fur I bought from the Pro Bear website. I really

like this fabric, it's fun to work with.

Pearl is just shy of 6 inches tall has a slight wobble

head and her arms are disk and string jointed while

her legs are disk and cotter pin jointed.

Cranberry Puzzle

I used to play this online puzzle game like a crazy person. I loved it, and

My Cranberry

I just finished this little darling today. I've been working on the

new pattern over the weekend, and I feel like, whew! I finally

finished this little guy. Although he didn't take too much longer

than any of my other bears. The cranberry colored fabric is

very soft and reminds me of a long pile velvet, although it's not.

But, oooooooo, I'll tell you that fabric was sooo hard to work with.

I probably will not be using that fabric again. It was like trying to

push a needle through leather. And I stuck my finger twice with the

back end of the needle.

I HATE THAT WHEN THAT HAPPENS!!!

And my left arm is so sore and achy from the car accident it gets

hard to work on bears. Very frustrating at times....

But I shall persevere. :D

Sweet Fern

amongst the chaos.

The month of July was such a chaotic, crazy, insane month for me. A month full of

things that I hope won't happen again, ever, and other things I hope

won't happen a least for a while.

Things are now calming a bit, but just a bit. I have a couple more

stressful items to take care of. I hate having to deal stressful situations,

I'm not good at it, I don't like it and would avoid it all together if I could,

but things being as they are, I have to take care of business.

Buuuuuut, now that things aren't quite as chaotic, I was able to work on

a bear this week. This is one I had cut out before we moved, and

was finally able to get to her and complete her. It was really nice to be working

on a bear again. Yay!!!

And here she is, Fern!!!

Warning:

I've wandered into the "land of new template designer". I hadn't planned it, but

I clicked, then I clicked into another area, and then another!!!

Aaaahhgg!

And there I was, playing with all the new features. So my blog will

probably be going through some pretty obvious changes, some may look okay,

some may not. I may just at time click out and leave it if I get frustrated.

My son and I are moving north to Colorado this week so my bear making

is on hold. And I'm already just aching to grab a needle, thread and some

bear fabric. But it's mostly packed away, so I'm going to just have to wait.

I'm getting some nice ideas about what I want my next bear to look like.....

so we'll see.

My left shoulder is still painful from the accident and I really can't lift

my arm up and around at all. It hurts to really do anything, it's hard to even get

dressed. Guess I'll be seeing a doc about that. And it's really hard to pack for moving

aaaaaaa, so much fun.

My Therapy Bear

or I could say my mental health bear? Whatever term is correct, this is the bear

I worked on today. Which really took my mind off the accident. My mind has

been reeling and going back to the whole thing, which I guess with something

as traumatizing as that, it's to be expected.

But, I must say I really enjoyed working on this bear, it reeeeallllly helped me today.

I started him (right now the bear seems like a him, but we'll see) last week and

was not especially happy with how he seemed to be turning out, but you really

can't judge a bear until it's completed.

Well, after todays progress, I think I'm actually going to be quite pleased with him.

Here are a couple pictures. . . .I used German cotton fur, which was really fun to

work with. I really like the look of it and I think it would be a nice fabric to

make a truly vintage-y style bear from.

I think he will be done tomorrow, at that point I hope to get some

pictures of him posted here.

What An End

to a great weekend!

Well this weekend my son and I and two close friends of ours spent the weekend, a couple hours south, in Albuquerque.We had a great time, visiting with friends and justhaving a good, up building time refreshing time. So yesterday, Monday, we went out for breakfast, hopped in the car, buckled up and headed for home. We would be on the road for about 2-2 1/2 hours. About an hour north of Albuquerque is Santa Fe, and rather than go through SF, we would take the relief route, and basically go around. It's a small highway, two lanes going north, and two going south. Every couple miles there is a part of the road that allows for drivers to go across if the road is clear. Which it's not a super busy road so no problem, you would think.

Well, on one of the cross-ways was a small SUV makingit's way across, as we approached. The SUV was just passing the middle section, and here we were making out way north, buuuuuut, apparently she was distracted or didn't see us, we really don't know why she doesn't stop to let us, on the main highway go by. So she just keeps driving across a about 40-45 mph, our driver swerves to try to avoid getting hit, but we get t-boned at 60 mph. She hits us on the drivers side into my son's door, who is sitting behind the driver.We spin out of control, and then at that point we become air-born andstart rolling, while taking out a light post. OMG!!!!!! We rolled three times and it felt like the rolling went on forever.

I just kept hoping it would all stop and at the same time I truly thought my lights

were going to go out and that my life was ending that day.And I would never see my son again.

When the vehicle finally came to a rest, we were actually upright. I realized I was still alive and then my claustrophobia kicked in and I could not get out of that car fast enough. I just hoped and prayed the door would open. I pulled the door handle and, awwww, it opened and in an instant I was out!!! My son dove out after me. At that point I basically freaked out for a good 10 minutes, saying,"oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!!!!!! "Once my son knew I was alright, he said he was getting the camera, which had survived and he started taking pictures. His calm nature sure came in handy.

Our two friends in the front seats came out relatively unhurt as well.

Truly God had a hand in keeping us safe and unharmed.

I say this because, coming the other way, headed to another accident were two emergency responders. They saw our whole accident, and told us that as they watch us fly through the air they were sure that there were going to be some major injuries if not a fatality. So, as they approached and saw us all get out and start moving around they were shocked. We were told that in accident of this nature 9 times out of 10 there is a fatality.

I first of all thank God. . . wearing seat belts. . . and a well made car.

(By the way the car belonged to our friends and they had only had it for 2 months, it was brand new and a total loss.)

may need it when you least expect it.

BANJO

is my latest little friend.
He's made from the Schulte sparse viscose rayon fabric
that I just love. This little guy is about 6 inches tall. He's
loosely jointed and somewhat floppy. He does sit by himself
though. He just feels so nice to hold, he's really got a nice
weight and feel to him. Because he's a tiny bit bigger than
what I usually make he's got a few more bb's in his tummy.
I like it!

A New Ellie!!

While I wait for some new fabric that I have ordered, I've been working
on a new ellie that I've named Taffy.
I can never seem to just leave a pattern alone. I always have to
make some sort of change. I am chasing the elusive
"perfectly" cute critter. I think to myself, oh, if I changed the ears
this way, or if I change the nose that way, and it will be just a bit cuter.

Taffy is 5 inches tall and has the adorable wobble head. I've weighted
her tummy, and she's disk and thread jointed. And then I've shaded
and aged the fabric in her ears for an aged feel to her.

Here's Dot

the little mohair bear I've been working on. I finished shading, aging and
adding a couple little decorations to her. She's four inches tall and has
a mildly wobbly head. Her tummy is weighted and is string and
disk jointed. She would have been nameless, but my brother
came over and helped with naming her Dot. I think the name
is just a sweet as she is. :D

Dot was a little hard to photograph due to the fabric that backs
the mohair was such a different color. So I experimented with
backgrounds for the pictures. I liked the solid black better for
this bear. The black background is a piece of wool felt.

Almost Finished

with this little 4 inch sparse mohair bear. She is so cute!
I just wanted to give you all a little preview before
I put her up for adoption.

Now, she needs a little added shading to her bod,
arms and legs. Then I will add a little flower or
heart embellishment.

On a slightly different note, I would really like to express
my appreciation to all of my followers.

My son and I have this little thing we do...
I will be sitting working
quietly, thinking about all sorts of things.
And sometimes I think of my 19 year old son,
he's just the best......
Anyway, I will just go into his room and tell him
"I appreciate you"
And there are times he will do the same to me.
This can happens several times through out any given week.
It's really nice.
We all need a little pat on the back and it can be
such a spirit lifter when you least expect it.

My point is, I want to tell you, my followers,
"I appreciate you"
Your encouraging comments and input really mean a lot to
me and I just wanted to tell you so. ;)

Before I Go
to sleep tonight I wanted to very quickly
post the new bear I've been working on.
This little guy is about five inches tall and is
made from Schulte sparse viscose (rayon).
I love, love, love working with this fabric.
I've been trying to get a 4 paneled head
pattern to work since I really like a rounder
head and center seam face. I combined two previous
patterns of mine and I'm actually happy with how
this little guy turned out. I do have
a couple little tweaks here and there, but
those adjustments are more on other bear
body parts. :D

I will hopefully get this little guy who I've
been calling Blue, (any suggestions for
names are welcome) listed on BearPile :)
and Etsy tomorrow.

My First Ellie

I finally finished my first little elephant. And while I keep going

The Bears to Come...

Well here is the bear I've been working on. It's a new pattern and bit different style.
I've been working on her in between my "day job" and other distractions.
Adding to my delay in getting this bear done is my extreme fatigue.
Which I'm actually feeling better with some medication and iron tabs. Yay!!!

I've named this little bear Blossom and she is
made from, what I was told is upholstery velvet, so I
will call it that, upholstery velvet. Blossom had a center
seam head and has 4 panels for for her head, making
it more round. She is about 5 inches tall and has
a weighted tummy and a wobble head. Overall
Blossom is somewhat, a more "relaxed" bear.
Not really floppy but not as tightly jointed as my other bears.
I really like the "relaxed" feel, it gives her a feeling of
being well loved and hugged. She's shaded and trimmed back and has a
hand made fabric flower around her neck.
I love the older look and "style" of bear and
I think Blossom is a fairly good start.
What a cutie!!!

I plan on working more with this style, so
look for similar bears to come.

Three Little Bears...

I was working at my table and had to move these little ones so
I could have more room the cut the fabric I was working on.
I kept seeing them out of the corner of my eye. They were all
looking in the same direction and quite interested in the

Working on New Pattern

I'm working on a new design. I hope the pattern I've drawn works out. I love the center
seam design of bears. With that vintage-y (is that a word?) flair to it. I should have
something to show for my efforts some time this week. Then I'll post a picture or

Just Need a Change

But I finally decided what I felt I needed to do with my newest little

Late Posting New Bear

Oh I feel like I'm posting this a bit late. I put this bear up on Bearpile and Etsy yesterday. I should have put it here first. Uhgg! I still feel new to all this. I never really thought I'd ever have a blog. But here it is. And it's fun. But I'm not sure about the etiquette. I'll figure it out, as I do this more and more.

Anyway, I hope you like the new bear, I named her Ming. Not for any special reason, her name really came about by accident. I was doing some editing of her pictures and saving the files. I wasn't sure what to call the files so I was just putting,
mint green, well one of the times I was filling in the file name my fingers skipped the t on mint and put the g from green, and there it was ming... I do think it suits her though. :D

Yea, Sunshine's little sissy is done. And she turned out so very sweet. It's always fun to see how different a bear will turn out even though you've used the same pattern and fabric. And now she will soon be going to her new home.

Aaaa, Here is one of the little bears I've been working on. Now, this little darling probably looks familiar.
It's Sunshine's sister. She is a special order for a very nice lady who saw Sunshine and really wanted her. But was a bit late in contacting me. So I offered to do a sibling, she does have the option to not buy her, and that's okay too, because I can put her Bearpile or Etsy. But I really like how this little sister is turning out. She should be done tomorrow. I do hope she finds a really nice home. :D

I call this little bear Tofu. And she is sooooo cute. This bear is my first attempt at making a bear from mohair. Different from what I'm used to, but I liked it. Tofu measures approximately 4.25 inches, is weighted with BBs, has poly fil, a stitched nose and mouth. She has been shaded and aged. So, she has a vintage feel and look to her.

Yikes!!! We need something new posted here. I'm working on a new little pink mohair bear. This will be my first mohair. Woo Hoo! I'm very excited about the whole thing. I'll get some pics of the WIP soon.
Also, I've met a lovely lady, Sophie, from France that does some very sweet & adorable accessories with tiny bears, which I will be posting pictures of her work soon as well.

Awwwww, Isn't she cute! This is Sunshine, I call her Sun.

This little bit of Sunshine is just under 4 inches. Is made from wonderfully soft Sassy fabric, has a mildly wobbly head, and is thread and disk jointed. Ultrasuede foot pads and has nice shading on her face,ears, paws and feet.
And, yes, she is available for adoption in my Etsy shop. :D Please visit her there.

Well, I finished my little sweetie. This is the one from the Chopper pattern. I'm having a really hard time getting a picture that I'm really happy with, but I did want to post something. I think it's the color of the fabric that is making it a bit difficult. I may try a couple more times for better photographs, but in the meantime, Sweetie is in my Etsy shop, just waiting for a visit from you. :D

Here is the little darling I've been trying to get my hands on this week. I've done a little work on him here and there. This is the Chopper pattern I got from Vivianne Galli. Of course I'm not using the mohair quite yet. The fabric I've used here has a bit of give, from side to side, so the head may seem a little wide. But, ya know, I like it...The legs and arms need to be attached and then I want to try my hand at aging this bear a bit. So, I thing the final bear will be quite different than what we see here. But, as you work on bears they really do become what they want to become....I love that part, can't wait to see how this fella turns out.

Oh, yes, and that other little bear in the picture will be going through a make-over soon...

This is the fabric for the potpourri pillows I'm working on this week. And these are what has been keeping me away from working on my bear.

The company I do the piece work for sells the pillows I make and other items around the world. These pillows here will go to Germany. I've even done pillows that have gone to the Smithsonian...They also sell lavender & flax seed filled eye pillows, (doesn't that sound nice after a long day of bear making?)incense, herbal teas and a few other items.

Okay, now I was thinking, I'd love to do a giveaway, but I don't have any bears I could put up, but I was thinking of maybe doing a giveaway with some items from the company I work for. I would maybe let the winner select 4 things from what is sold, and second place could select two things, something like that...What you think?...

My Poor, little, sweet, darling Patient Bears

Well, while my day job is keeping me busy for the last week and a half or so....I continue to walk by my bear work table and see these three, yes, three bears patiently laying there just waiting to become adorable little bears.
My "day job" is work I do at home for a company called Native Scents, which works very well for me, since at this time
I'm not driving. My son helps me go pick up supplies when they call. The supplies usually are a 55 gallon barrel of potpourri, 10-20 yards of fabric, ribbon and thread, and boxes to bring the completed small pillows back.

What I do is cut and sew small 6"X6" square pouches, which I then stuff with potpourri, then I close up the top. The 10-20yds of fabric will make 100-200 small potpourri pillows. Pictured are the barrels of potpourri I get, fabric in various stages of being cute into squares, squares before and after being sewn and stuffed and then getting ready to be boxed and taken back to Native Scents...I do think, though, that the first part of this coming week I'll actually get to work on my bears!!!! Oooooh! I can't wait, here I come little darlings!!! :D

Butter, Butter, Yummy, Butter

Yay! I got more bear fabric from Sassy fabric. She has gotten some new fabrics in and one I saw on the website that, from the pic, looked just so plush and yummy, it is called "Butter". Oooo, I loved it from the second I saw it. Of course sometimes the actual fabric is not quite what you were hoping for, but it's always nice to get new fabric to add to your stash. Well, I had high hopes for the Butter fabric. I got it on Friday, and had ordered a couple pieces of the butter along with some other fabric. Well, when I saw that Butter fabric it really was all I had hoped it would be. Yummmmmmmmy, I love it!! Not sure what bear I will make with it but it's sure to bear a sweet and very special bear!!!!!

Okay, and just for fun, I am a huge animal lover and have a friend who sends me pics all the time. So, I thought I share a couple here....Tooooooo cute!!!! (see the bee on the bears nose?)

Late on Monday, January 4th, the Chopper gift pack I'd been anxiously waiting for, made it to my mail box. Well my mail box is about .5 mile away, so I actually got the pack in hand on Tuesday. Yay!!!! Oh, the items are so lovely, the mohair is beautful, I just love everything!!! And this will be my first experience working with mohair. And to add to all the wonderfulness, Chopper is my favorite Vivianne Galli bear pattern.
Today, Wednesday, I just had to cut a Chopper out of one of the pieces of mohair.
Now, I did make a little mistake cutting Chopper out, but I am moving ahead and I think all will be well with my first mohair bear, the cute Chopper. I hope to have this little darling done tomorrow. But, if it's tomorrow or the next day, I will post pictures. Oh, I can't wait to see how this little bear turns out. :D
Although, my "day job" called me today and said they had some work for me. Which I am verrrrrry grateful for. It's good, steady $ when they have work for me, but, oh, how I would love to sit and make bears all day long. But, tomorrow I will work my "day job" then I will work on the bear.
I'll do a post later about my day job, just for fun...

My "day" job has been keeping me busy, somewhat anyway, so not much bearing going on over here. But, I have been debating in my mind regarding Etsy or eBay... I've done eBay for quite some time, that thought of changing over is kind of hard. Etsy, before this, never really struck me as an option for selling items. Of course, that thinking comes from a few years back, before eBay made all it's current changes. So, to make a long story short, I've decided to give Etsy a try...

I have my store up, even though it's not completely set up. It will work for now, with one little darling bear listed. I haven't named the bear and probably won't. I think I'll leave that up to the buyer.

I've been making bears for about 5 months or so. And I have seen so many wonderful bears in my searches and just trolling around on the internet. I've been following quite a few bear blogs too.

Every once in a while a blog owner will have a giveaway. I never win these but figure I'll post a message, ya never know.

Well, the wonderful Inge Vivianne Galli at Gotta share this by Vivianne - had a giveaway this week. I left a message on her blog on Friday, and then waited until
late Monday to see who would win.

Of course, not me, but let's see who...
And as these words were leaving my lips, there, there I was reading my name as the winner. It said Congratulations Kelly....
My son quickly checked the messages that had been left, which entered you in the giveaway. We were wondering if there was another Kelly that had posted a message.
NO! I was the only one.

Way Too LOng

It's been way too long since I posted here on my blog and way too long since I
made a bear...I read on another blog how you tend to forget the thrill of making
a bear, how their sweet faces come to life and how wonderful the whole little
creation comes together. This has been my experience, I fell in love all over
again with bear making, and this sweet little bear named Maddy. :D Isn't she just darling!!!

My son was looking at her and then set her on my dresser. Well, there was a crocheted bunny I had made sitting just behind her. From my angle in the room it looked like Maddy was wearing bunny ears...That was just waaaaay too cute, so of course I had to make some ears for Maddy and she just loves them!!!
